Hi
My original melanoma was removed last August with a wide local excision done in September and all lymph nodes removed from groin in November due to a positive SLB.
A new lump appeared next to the original site in March and following a biopsy it has come back positive for residual melanoma. I’ve therefore been booked in for a further operation to remove more skin and another skin graft.
I’ve been told that this is the best course of action at fighting the disease.
I was just wondering how common residual melanoma is and whether anyone is aware at what point other treatments may come into play. I’m based in the UK.
I just can’t get my head around the fact that there doesn’t appear to be any way to find out if the melanoma is still in the body and what it’s doing and where it is. All you can do is sit and wait and I’ve nevee been good at that.
