I’m curious why seemingly every parent squats every time their kids give them a hug?

Why is it that When a toddler, or older child like 7 years old gives an adult a hug, the grown-up always squats? Even when standing your child can easily hug you, so you can easily return their hug. What does squatting have to do with any aspect of a hug? For any parents that have kids in this age range like me, when they give you a hug, Why do ya'll squat with you toddler? Why do ya'll squat with your 7 year old?

just stay standing for both kids. See? both of them are hugging alongside the adult just fine. Why wouldn’t you do this with both toddler and 7 year old? Why do grown-ups squat every time?

a few examples of what I’m talking about, imagine in these photos they are giving each other a hug.

If you ask me, squatting makes hugs even better—eye to eye, tighter squeezes, and less chance of a surprise knee tackle! 😊
