What type of lung cancer were you or your loved one diagnosed with?
Hello everyone! Thanks for participating in this poll we are doing to learn more about the people in this community. I only listed the three most common types, there are many others. Feel free to share below.
I was diagnosed with stage 4 NSC adenocarcinoma in 2013. I have been NED since 2016. My lung cancer was ALK and I was a non-smoker. I also had ATM mutation (stage 1breast cancer in 2021) which can also put you at a higher risk for lung, breast and ovarian cancer. My PET scan in 2014 showed borderline ovarian. Surgery took care of that one. After breast lumpectomy back to NED.
My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 in 2019 in September and died in October. His cancer was also in the fluid surrounding both heart and lungs. His mutation was EFGR. He was exposed to Agent Orange and smoked for over 20 years.
My non-small cell adenocarcinoma was diagnosed in 2015 during routine physical. I had right upper lobe removed via VAT with no need for further treatment. Have been NED since then. Very lucky and grateful.
Stage 3 lung cancer
My tumour showed on an Xray but our hospital omitted to tell anybody for 15 month's and meantime my health deteriorated and I ended up with Pneumonia which is when my wonderful Thoracic Consultant saw my tumour and asked why I hadn't had treatment! I told him that I didn't know I had one ! He made thing's move very quickly and because of him, I am still here....and the Surgeon who operated! However because of the cancer being ignored for the 15 month's, I have been left with multiple health problems. I am so grateful to be alive because a lot of family and friend's have passed with cancer, I just wish that I wasn't in so much pain so that I could enjoy being alive more . I will be forever grateful to my Consultant, Surgeon, family and friend's and the amazing people on this Forum who supported me through that time .
