Have you ever been prescribed a medication for your asthma by your doctor but your insurance company denied payment for the medication?

My doctor is wanting me to try Dulera and my insurance has denied me twice. I have been on Breo, Advair, Asmanex. The Advair and Symbicort irritate my throat. I just seem to do better on Dulera. My dr. gave me samples. So right now another preauthorization is in progress! Maybe the 3rd time will be a charm as they say.

I was also denied coverage from my work insurance for Dulera. I still take it, but pay out of my own pocket. $130 per month. I went through paperwork that my doctor had filled out saying I need it and no, they still won’t cover me for it. Then he put me on Singulair, and that too is not covered. It costs me $40 for three months. They do cover my Ventolin, which is the cheapest drug I am on though! So frustrating...

Budesonide. My doctor ordered a similar medicine from a compounding pharmacy. Medical Center Pharmacy in North Carolina. Only costs $100 for 3 months out of pocket. Works just as good.

Too bad its so expensive. It has really helped bring my asthma under control. My children mid 40’s get it for free. Now I see why some senior citizens don’t take their meds.
