How many times in the last 12 months ha... - Living with Asthma
How many times in the last 12 months has your doctor prescribed oral corticosteroids (OCS) such as prednisone to treat your asthma?
Carakraft37 Voters6 times, prednisone
That is a lot! Are you on any of the new biologic asthma medications?
What are these so called "new biologic" asthma meds if I may ask Carakraft?
6 short courses to treat viral wheeze in a 4 year old boy over the last 11 months.. Not happy with this at all and finally have a referral to a respiratory specialist.
That is a good question and thanks for asking 😊 I guess that depends on where you live and what is approved in your country. Here in the U.S., there are several (some new- some have been here for a while) biologic medications such as mepolizumab, omalizumab, dupilumab, reslizumab and benralizumab. These biologic medications are approved for treatment in severe asthma in the U.S.
I live in a community just north of Austin, TX (4 miles to be exact). Thanks for your reply. I'll bring these items up to my doctor on my next visit. I may have to go back to my pulmonary doctor for them. I don't think my asthma can be listed as severe, but will discuss them just the same.
I'm steroid dependent. I take Methylprednisolone daily. I was getting Xolair injections every four weeks for 7 years. Never worked. Four months ago I was switched to Nucala. That's not working either. Go back to my pulmonologist next month and he will be switching me to CINQAIR infusion.
