I've had bobath through nhs physios. physio in general helps me especially swimming and hydro therapy. However I thought the centers charged. I didn't realise they where free.

They obviously have a finite amount of money so there is an order to which free therapy is offered. Number one for them is giving free therapy to pretty severely affected children. They have only just opened up the service to adults, so I think some may have to pay whilst others will not. I did some volunteering for them in exchange for physio and have never had to pay.

There are three Bobath Centres in the UK - we are based in London, but there are also centres Glasgow and Cardiff. Each is independent of the other, but there is a very strong connection between therapists and they work closely together.

In London, we treat children and adults with CP and other neurological conditions e.g. stroke. There is a charge for treatment but funding is available through the NHS, but this varies from area to area.

Things are changing and it's worth talking with your GP, particularly now the new Clinical Commissioning Groups (that have replaced the PCTs) are coming into place. Also, 2014 sees the roll out of Personal Health Budgets, which may be another way of funding treatment. Further information can be found at bobath.org.uk. Hope this helps.
