This may sound silly, but how do you switch off from that panic mode when your feeling unwell. I was diagnosed with APML in April and responded well to treatment which finished in August. I am thankfully in remission. This morning I have woke up feeling like I am full of cold and can hardly swallow, I also have a couple of mouth ulcers and two small bruises on my leg, the first thought that crossed my mind was could my leukaemia of returned. I get regular checks every 3 months and last saw my consultant on 31st October but I can't help but worry in between, especially when your not feeling well.

Coping with being ill for the first time after treatment has finished when your in remission.
Hi Claire
It is difficult to stop worrying when you have received chemotherapy for leukaemia. it sounds like you have done well with your treatment.
It would be advisable to ring your Specialist Nurse or haematology to see if you can be reviewed. the symptoms you are describing could be just a cold but with your history it is advisable to have a check up worth your specialist team.
You never stop looking over your shoulder - any feeling of being unwell triggers that "What if" reaction. You are getting regular check ps, but if you are at all concerned, Im sure your health care team would be happy to see you outside those regular appointments. I see that this was posted 4 months ago, is I hope you have had the reassurance you were looking for.
