Thrombocytopenia, Neutropenia and left shifted myeloid

Hi

I am not even sure this is the right forum for me to post on but I am starting to get concerned about my ongoing health issues and can't seem to find any specific forums that could help me.

I have persistent Thrombocytopenia (low platelets) and Neutropenia (low white blood cells). I had a bone marrow sample taken in 2014 and was told I have predominant left shifted myeloid and megakaryoctic series.

When I research a left shifted myeloid it basically means I have immature leukocytes. I was told by the bone marrow specialist back in 2014 that my body also destroys healthy cells too quickly.

Fast forward to this year and I have persistent ongoing symptoms. I have extreme fatigue, left sided abdominal pain and swelling, blurred vision, night sweats, recurring mouth ulcers. I saw my Haematologist last week who has referred me back to the bone marrow team with a view to having a further biopsy taken.

I suppose I am looking for anyone who has similar symptoms to me and who have been given a definitive diagnosis? Obviously I am concerned that there is an underlying issue.

Thank you for your time and I am sorry if this is the incorrect forum.

  • Hi Laura. We have a specialist nurse on our helpline available - it might be worth chatting with her too. She works daytime 9 - 4.30 on 08088 010 444 - this number is free from any phone. We also have an evening nurse available on Wednesdays and Fridays if that helps.

  • Thank you for your response with the details. Have you ever heard of that bone marrow condition? I am struggling to find anything relating to it.

  • Hi

Thank you for your email. I think it is very important that you are reviewed by your medical team. Your symptoms can be related to your previous problems. Best to check things out.
