Member card on the single post page

Hi everyone,

Our goal at HealthUnlocked is to ensure that our members can find answers to their questions whilst creating strong bonds with other like-minded people within the communities to which they belong.

We have received feedback that it can be difficult for peers to respond to the author of a post without knowing the author’s health context. For example, there are differences in healthcare access and medication names between countries. As the necessary information is already on each member’s profile (e.g. member’s country), we have taken this feedback onboard and are making this more visible. We hope that this new feature will help members communicate more effectively with each other in each post.

The member card is the same as the ones we already have elsewhere on the platform, e.g. members page.

We hope that having more context will help everyone to give more personalized feedback meeting the needs of each in their respective communities.

All the best of health to you,

HealthUnlocked team

Hi Hidden I noticed this and think it is another great initiative to give clarity and confidence to other members so thanks for doing this as it is appreciated.

Hi ManarHU,

I noticed it yesterday and was wondering about it. It sounds like it's going to be helpful in finding which country a member is from.

Is it okay to copy your above post and include it in a statement to our community? If not then I will re-write it.

Thanks,

Joanna

No idea what you are referring to. Can u be more specific?

in reply to GMa27

Hello,

Yes, I am referring to the member card that you now see under each post in order to give more context to other members when they reply to the author of the post.

Hi and thank you, Hidden . I think this is going to be very useful for the members and help with some of the questions they may ask each other when replying. I will share this update with the members, as well. :-)

Hi Hidden

I love this new feature, but "Member Card" is something I have not heard. We, on CLL SUPPORT refer to our Profile page. So, it took me awhile to find a place to say thank you for this new feature.

in reply to cllady01

Haha yes I see, will make sure to add a photo next time, thank you for the feedback :)

Hello, yes it will be under every post :)

Good morning ManarHU, This is really a great idea as I have wondered (in the past) where everyone is from although HU will attract people from all over who are interested in many topics that HU cover from time to time.

Will there be a little “emoji” ( and I use that word very loosely) to tell us where the member is from so advice or support is given properly?

in reply to Biomet

Hi, thank you Biomet for the amazing feedback 😊 members can display their country by adding/editing their profile. So, if they add it and make it public you will see the country on the member card as text. I hope it answers your question?

If you click on the poster's name, that takes you to the person's profile where you can see everything a member chooses to put there. That's always been there and this change more or less duplicates that. I don't see a benefit but I realise that it may be useful to other forums than the ones I use

Good idea. It helps to know where members live and their age. Then we can reply appropriately. Thanks. I wonder is the type of cancer might also be helpful.

Cheers, June S.

What is the data protection aspect of the 'member card' and how will this be stored/protected from distribution beyond HealthUnlocked?

Hi Manar,

Just read your post on this new feature.

Great improvement.

Just one minor snag in the new info box, when you hit the pulldown arrow then press "see more", the info displayed in the text box at the top is too small for the reader to see the "read more" button. if you have a look at my profile and last post that will illustrate I hope.

I do have a large profile description which I believe is of help to others.

I also need to update it. Here I go.

P.S. Could you also display the same info at the top of the post next to peoples avatar name. At least the country.

Many thanks for all that you do.

Best wishes,

Ernest

Hi Ernest2,

I'm glad you like it! Thank you for the feedback we will investigate :)

Other health forums are considering offering filters based on location, age. I would find this useful as care offered is very regional based. It is no help to find out what treatment I can expect in the USA or south England if I live in North England where services are limited.

in reply to Callista

Thank you for the feedback Callista, we will consider it :)

Hi ManarHU,Thank you for being there. The opportunity to speak and listen to likeminded people is so satisfying. I don’t remember how I came across this link but thoroughly appreciate your knowledge.

This is my favorite website, HU. When I received my diagnosis of ET, these people were my life savers. I learned more from them, than from any Heamatologist. I am trying to take the poll and survey but the website isn't working. Thank you for all you are doing!!

in reply to Jschwab

Hi Jschwab,

Thank you for the positive feedback. I'm happy to read that HealthUnlocked was able to help you when you needed it and look forward to continuing this journey with you.

For the poll, are you referring to this one: What is the most valuable aspect of being part of your community on HealthUnlocked?

Hi Manar,

I just noticed that if a member leaves, in case of a short post there is no username and members card underneath is gone too. It is not clear that the member has left the forum.

I just had a case like that snd I think that others won't know that she left.

I want to keep the post open in case she rejoins under another username...

It used to be "Hidden" displayed next to the post title.

I'm flagging this up to look at at a convenient time.

Thank you,

Joanna
