The Access to Marketplace Insurance Act - HR 3742 that would stop insurance companies from not accepting premium and cost-sharing payments made on behalf of patients from charitable organizations went on to garner 146 cosponsors, but did not pass before the end of the last session of Congress. With a new Congress and a new Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the community is hoping Secretary Price will simply revise the rule and put an end to this practice of not allowing charitable organizations to be charitable.
Congressmen Kevin Cramer and Congresswoman Doris Matsui are leading a letter to Secretary Price urging him to issue a revised rule that would allow charities to help patients. The more cosigners the letter has, the more weight it will have and the greater the likelihood HHS will revise the rule. Reach out to your Member of Congress today and ask them to sign onto the letter!
