mitral valve repair

hi folks I had a mitral valve repair 2 years ago it came out of the blue I had become breathless and had pain in my chest .the op was ok and I eventually got back to normal .however the last week or so I have developed the same symptoms and am terrified that it has happened again .does anyone know what the expected lifespan of a repair should be .thanks in advance gussy

hi I had a mitral valve repair 13 yrs ago, so lasted quite a reasonable time. Having said that I am now having a replacement on the 7th July. Only slight breathlessness but my bnp is 1800 should be 100 and my heart is slightly enlarged. So time for surgery. This time I am having keyhole so hopefully recovery will be better.

thanks for getting back to my post much appreciate .as I suspected the repair hasn’t lasted and I am now waiting on an appointment for a new valve hopefully all goes well for you thanks again
