Hi Islandanna,

I have already been through menopause when I just had my hysterectomy so I cannot truly comment on the depression part but everything I have either read or heard about life after hysterectomy for those who have not been through menopause can cause severe hormonal drops which can definitely affect your mental health (depression). Please contact your physician regarding this feeling as you may need to be put on hormonal therapy or at the very least be taken care of by a physician who can get you through this. Life is worth living...every day is a new day and you never know what wonderful things can come your way. Get help and don't wait...I really urge you. Best wishes!

hi. this can be common side effects of menopause or even major surgery alone. do you have a partner you can openly talk to? are you taking hrt or anti depressants? it is really important to talk about how you are feeling. it maybe that a change in medication could help. ive had times when ive been at rock bottom. it feels impossible to get back up but it isnt with the right people around you. forums like this have been a godsend to me. it really helps talking to others that understand. x x

If you’re still in pain I understand I had days like that. Now I’m cancer free post hysterectomy so I focus on this. Try to have something to do every day. Have a shower get dressed or clean pjs. It will get better

Hi Islandanna

How long have you been on HRT. Low mood is commonly associated with menopause but it can take up to 3 months for the HRT to improve things. If I were you, I’d try coming off the antidepressants and see if the HRT alone improves things. It’s difficult to tell what’s working if you’re on 2 meds which are treating the same symptom. My mood was so very low and HRT definitely improved things for me. Antidepressants just put me in even more of a spin and I only took them for 2 days!

Hope you feel better soon. Xx
