Hi Pocketdolly,

I knew absolutely nothing about this and have had to look it up.You may have to educate me on this one !

As far as I can glean,a Craniotomy is where they remove a bone portion for access and replace it during the surgery,Craniectomy is removal and discarding of bone, usually to relieve pressure or brain swelling,or due to infection,or skull trauma.Cranioplasty is replacement of missing bone with a synthetic substitute. The pros of which are:protection of the vulnerable area, cosmetic, possible improvement of neurological function and possible reduction of headaches.Associated risks with the surgery can be:infection, post op clot, stroke and seizure. If you would like to tell me a little more about your op and the effects of the bleed/stroke,I would appreciate : ) Angela x
