Has anyone else suffered a damaged pre-frontal cortex? Do you find it hard to start/stop thinking about things?

That's a significant part of my TBI. 'Lack of dimmer switch', 'either too much momentum or inertia' 'train either runaway or derailed' or however it's characterised... Doesn't help with achieving things efficiently nor Fatigue Management - so it's a big factor in the 'reduced executive function' aspect! I find engaging in rear brain activities helps calm the front whilst avoiding going for the just shutting down completely option. Has got better recently (nearly 5yrs in) but still there.

Let us know if you've come up with any useful strategies...

Hi,

That very interesting. I see my CBT every week and we discussed how I always have something in mind that I can't get out for months on end. End of last year was the rape and is currently the haemmorage. There's not much we can do unfortunatly because once the brains damaged Itl stay as it is. However, I defend it the beset I can by occupying my mind about positive things, like no longer being overprotected. I even say it out loud to muself to help. spmepeople look at me strange but they dont know what we've been through. Best of luck. Try CBT if you can because its helped me loads.
