I'm new here and I'm concerned about Continuous Bleeding.

Hi, I'm 42 and have a contraceptive implant. My periods have always been irregular but now I'm finding that the bleeding I get is lasting 2/3 weeks. I think it's finished as the colouring becomes the reddish brown but then by the morning it feels like I'm "flooding" again and it's fresh red blood! my friend has the implant and has had no bleeding at all, not even spotting. I've always been a worrier and I'd like some support to put my mind at rest. Thank you.

Hi there,

It's always good to talk to friends about these things, isn't it? And it's great you have a girlfriend you can chat to. The thing is, is that we are all different, and so your body will respond differently to the implant than your friends body will. We suggest that you pop along to your doctor or practice nurse, tell them about your change in bleeding pattern, just as you have told us. It's probably nothing to worry about, and he or she will be able to help manage this.

If you would like to talk more with Tracie, our gynae nurse, please email nurse@eveappeal.org.uk or call 0808 802 0019.

Best Wishes,

Team Eve.
