Are prescriptions free if you have cancer?

Yes, it is now government policy that prescriptions should be free once you've had a cancer diagnosis. Ask your GP or hospital nurse specialist for application form (FP92A) and you should receive a prescription exemption form. This applies to all prescriptions, not just those related to cancer. The certificate is valid for 5 years and can be renewed if you are still undergoing cancer treatment or still experiencing the effects of cancer or its treatment.

If you have any other questions relating to treatment or living with cancer, then please comment below and our Ask Eve Team shall respond promptly. Likewise, if you would like us to cover any topics on this forum then please let us know.

Alternatively, call the freephone number 0808020019 or email nurse@eveappeal.org.uk to speak with our Nurse Specialist.

Remember that if you live in Scotland, Wales or NI ALL prescriptions are free for everyone. :-)
