Son just had 3 cysts removed 2 in jaw and one on his sinuses. Lost some teeth. No scarring. Feeling better in about a week and 1/2. Had little swelling and just a little bruising.

My daughter's cyst in left side of jaw is so large that she needs a bone graft and will lose 5 teeth. We are scared, but hoping for a speedy recovery. She has multiple cysts on the right as well, that will get removed.

My 11 year old has now had at least 4 operations to remove jaw cysts, sometimes up to 6 cysts at a time and some of them have been huge. Usually lots of swelling afterwards and bruising and has to be careful what he eats for a while afterwards and what sports he does. He is getting used to the routine. Next scan next week, so we'll see if there are any new ones. Be great if there weren't !

My daughter was 17 when her jaw cyst was found. I had her at the dentist for check up. He pulled me in to look at x-rays and said, "It looks like her top left wisdom tooth is above her ear." He sent her to specialist who had a CAT scan done. The cyst had grown so big it had pushed her wisdom tooth up behind her eye. They did surgery quickly before it did any damage to her eye. She had to have 4 teeth pulled with it. It ate away part of her cheekbone and damaged her sinus cavity on the left side. No scarring as the incision was made under her top lip. That was 5 years ago and she is just now being diagnosed with Gorlin's after having 2 bcc's removed. Plastic surgeon sent her back to specialist, another CAT scan and they think she has another jaw cyst. We're just learning about Gorlin's.

Just one point to pick up on regards this subject; CT scans should be avoided for detection of jaw cysts if at all possible because of radiation levels. OPG or MRI preferrable.
