Sainsburys Soft white seeded rollsI bloat up after 2 of these., I can't see anything in them though That may cause it?

It probably is the psyllium husks in it - psyllium is a form of soluble fibre, but can cause bloating in some people. Its not a coeliac reaction, just a side effect of the psyllium which may also result in wind....

Alternatively could be cross-contamination in manufacturing but if bloating/wind is the only symptom, my guess is psyllium.

Hi Ian 67, I think Meanioni is probably on the ball with the psyllium husks - these are useful for flushing out the intestines but they also give many people a 'Winnie the Pooh' shaped tummy. If it isn't that then the second reactive ingredients are usually potato/potato starch and tapioca starch which are widely used in the free from ranges. So much so that in many of the bread items potato and tapioca often make up around 50% of the mixture. I also bloat out when I eat the other offerings made by Warburtons and Genie - but if you check out the ingredients you will notice that these too have potato and tapioca in them.

Your best option may well be to bake something yourself. Start off with a simple scone recipe as these can be used as a sandwich if you keep them plain as in not containing sugar. You may add various seeds which are usually best soaked for half an hour or so in a little nut oil and boiling water to soften them before adding them to your mixture.

I have left a simple recipe in your question on 'struggling' ... I use various combinations of the same recipe as I find it also freezes very well - it works when you cut down the butter/fat to just a slither so it is totally adaptable. I cut a fruit version into cubes when I'm travelling anywhere and just pop one or two in my mouth when I get peckish. You can really add anything and change anything with this type of recipe - you can make it a little more moist if you want to cook it in a tall Pyrex dish making it 'loaf' shaped .. and at least you know what you're putting in it - so that it can be really nourishing and good for you.

nice to know i'm not the only one.......most of the wheat and glutenfree bread, cakes.....i bloat.....so i've been out and got myself stuff to make my own bread....do you use gf yeast? rice cakes seem to be the only thing i can eat, without blowing.........any suggestions with be great....i seem ok eating the wheat and gf pasta.....but thats about it.......:(

I tried making bread a few times in a bread maker.. Made 3 bricks and gave up.. Ha

i make bread anyway.....but haven't tried with the gf flour...going to give it ago with a few of the different flours i've bought, will report back with which one was the best.....i don't use a bread maker as they do tend to make a heavier mix....i use a mixer with a bread hook...leave for a hour or so to double in size then make whatever i fancy..then leave a again for another 40mins....then cook in a hot oven....goin to make milk rolls first.....:) i'm new to this....only been gluten free for a month.so still getting use to changing all my normal baking stuff.....
