After supposedly gluten free meal, fe... - Gluten Free Guerr...
After supposedly gluten free meal, felt v. Sick, shaking violently, had to lie down.Doc didn't find anything. Anyone else had this reaction?

No I've never had that reaction, but then our reactions do change and no-one is the same. Hope you feel better now.
I had a reaction very similar to you when I ate some breakfast cereal containing gluten by mistake. I was shaking, stomach pains, feeling very sick etc and had to go to bed for 4 hours, not nice! Hope you feel better.
Hi susyjane,
I suspect your gluten-free meal might not have been as gluten-free as you were expecting.
The risk of this happening is much higher if you're eating away from home, either in a public place or in the homes of family and friends.
I suspect my mother of accidentally glutening me on my birthday! - Even though normally she is very switched on to my needs. The first 48 hours felt like I had a severe virus; I was shivering and couldn't get warm (as well as the numerous bathroom trips...) and I didn't get back to normal for about 10 days afterwards.
I hope you feel better soon.
Thank you everyone..it is so reassuring to know that such severe symptoms, that I had never experienced before, are not just mine alone, and thank you for your good wishes. I am home now and can be as super careful as I need to be.
When I am glutened all I get is constipation but I do get similar symptoms with my Formaldehyde Allergy to which exercise triggers food induced reactions of palpitations, atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure, sometimes vomiting, hot sweats then freezing cold then sleep for several hours once my body has come out of panic attack mode. My episodes have taken place in the bath, IKEA, Bodrum & Enfidha airports. I keep away from the GF status foods and rely on knowing ingredients that trigger reactions to my allergy & CD.
After a 'guaranteed' g.f. meal in February felt really ill, had severe stomach cramps and four loo visits for diarrhoea. I eventually put it down to the gravy, although I also had, I think, fried onions. I have since discovered that I cannot tolerate fried onions but roast onions are fine, weird or what? Oh, by the way, have since found that Knoor do a g.f. gravy but this is only available from wholesalers like Bookers. I actually contacted Bookers who very kindly allowed me to purchase a tub of the gravy powder directly from them.
This sounds like my typical reaction to gluten, plus I need to sleep afterwards too.
