I only seem to get the odd email now (top `q` for the day). Have I now got to access the site to see all q`s.

If so then I prefer the old regime.

Hi,

Not sure but I think people are probably posting less because of the new site (I personally still don't like it!).

When I get emails about new postings, I get an identical email about a minute later! Talk about seeing double!

Hi Regalbirdy,

Yes I agree the old site was straightforward and easy to see the questions and all the responses. I am at a loss to understand why it was changed.

Duplicate emails may be due to email preferences, it is worth checking by going to the dropdown menu by your username and seeing what you have subscribed to. Like other communities these are done for you when you register but you can edit them as you wish.

My impression is that people seem to be getting more confident with the new format and starting to use it. Like any change it takes a bit of time to get familiar and that only happens by using it.

I Agree with silverdreammachine. I get very few emails which are duplicated, but will check out how to avoid this.

I do not like the new one either-- you see a message has been posted in your e-mail in box, then you have to click on it--log in--then find the message again, why can't I just open the message while still in my in-box and then only login if I want to post a response (as before) it is time consuming and irritating !

APsnotFab you are right that this is a free site and for the benefit of other communities too. Also volunteers work on this site for our benefit which is very much appreciated. However, I do think it is not as user friendly site as what we had before even though the teething problems are being addressed. One thing that I find quite frustrating is the search facility because the search scans all sites not just this one. I do find the layout clumsy too. But I hope that people will continue to use it despite their concerns because it has been, and continues to be very helpful to me. If people aren't contributing because of the change I will miss their contributions and help. Besides we have been advised to raise the concerns as this will help to rectify the problems and make it easier to use the site.

gluten free guerillas used to be so easy to use, but since the change, hardly anything gets through anymore. Bring back the old one

I agree with 1stgls the new format is more time consuming and irritating. I find when in a hurry I am simply less inclined to click through than I used to.

I thought it was just me, I used to get daily emails that told me there were questions to look at, which I still get for thyroid UK on HU but not for glutenfree guerillas. So unless I log in and look which as I find the site so annoying I do less of.

I knew something had changed on GFG but I couldn't put my finger on it. There used to be lost of interesting questions and discussions but they all seem to have dried up, died off and faded away. I was hoping that maybe a cure for coeliac disease had been found so nobody needed HealthUnlocked any more !.

The old problems that I discovered shortly after being diagnosed still remain, like trying to find a gluten free eatery at any of the UK holiday resorts, train stations and airports, and the people at work still making a big deal out of being able to eat cake, biscuits, doughnuts and sandwiches whilst I can't, and any crackers that I order on prescription arriving as a bag of crushed up crumbs, and ingredient marking on food packaging being in 16 different languages in microscopic print so I can't read it. Heres a new one for discussion if anyone is still out there : I tried to log on to Gluten Free On The Go on the internet at work the other day and our security system blocked access. When I queried it with out IT people I was told that the site posed a threat because it contained malware. I thought "that isn't very nice, is it" and promptly sent an email to Coeliac UK warning them about the evil hackers lurking behind Gluten Free On The Go. Coeliac UK replied that they could access the web site okay without any poblems. So my problem is, why do the IT people at my place of work think that GFOTG contains malware? Or maybe Coeliac UK has been hacked into and the list of coeliacs on their server is now available across the world for a few pounds to anyone who is looking to sell cheap medication without prescription.

Phil if you're not getting the questions coming through do contact the help team on here. It could be that the GFOTG site has Malware embedded into it which CUK can't see but your IT team can. Often you can access a site fine even if there is malware in it.

Thanks Fiona. I'll post this up as a new subject. I think it is very mean for sites to distribute malware behind a front that makes them appear to be humanitarian.

Hi Everyone, my thoughts exactly. I don't want to be mean, but I do find this new version of the site rather clumsy and non-intuitive...I keep having to log in/get logged out/ takes ages to load pages etc... I do miss the regular questions/updates that seemed to appear with the old site...Sigh! I too still have a lot to learn and sometimes it's not until someone else asks the question that you realise just what the issue is... if you know what I mean??

Hi Lexy. The team that updated the platform are still working on ironing out issues due to the upgrade. We preferred the old site too but the new platform will allow for extra features in future which will be beneficial. It just takes time to iron out the problems and for us all to get used to the new look and way of using it.

Hi Fiona

Is there any chance of getting a hints and tips section that will help us use the site. I particularly miss my daily emails and finding questions seems to be much harder, but that could be my brain fog. Plus can the members section go back to showing us all the members not just the newest people.

Hi Mia good points. The HU team are in the process of upgrading the site to ensure the directory is added back in full as something went wrong with that in the recent changes.

In terms of your daily emails have you reported it via the Help section on the green header? This might be a simple techie problem that they can solve?

Finding questions is harder. I'll have another play with the site and see if we can do a blog post on getting used to the changes.
