Hello everyone,I've just been prescribed Tiopex 0.1 gel drops for in the mornings in addition to Brinzolomide 3 times a day and Lumigan at night. (This is to get my pressures down from 16 to ideally 12!)
The leaflet says that l should use the other eye drop first, before the Tiopex. Hope this is okay? Doctor hasn't given any specific instructions to me for them, just sent a message to my GP.
I'm quite nervous as l had a bad reaction to Ganfort a few weeks ago, bad headache and very sore eye, horrible. Had to stop using them.
Fingers crossed that the Tiopex will be okay!

Hello Nanacake, Tiopex is just a trade name for timolol gel, which has been around for years. The reason you are recommended to instil any other drops first is to avoid the lingering presence of the gel preventing the eye absorbing the other meds, if you have used those only a short time after the Tiopex. Of all the many warnings on the leaflet (as with all meds!) one you should consider is the possible reduction in BP from a normal level,, which is undesirable in glaucoma. Use your finger punctal occlusion for a full minute to limit the body taking it in, though it will still get in via the conjunctival capillaries; if your BP does reduce undesirably tell your consultant and he/she may change it for something else (we all want Roclanda - see the recent post !).
Hello Sorshup and thank you for your helpful comments and I have taken note of all you have said. I agree, Roclanda sounds perfect...if only we could all be prescribed it! Best wishes, Kate x
