Does anyone have glaucoma and also suffer with migraines auras . I have both ,taking drops for the glaucoma, but just paracetamol for the migraines.?My neurologist won't treat them unless I have more than 5 Attacks a month. I am getting 2/3 .
Wondering how you cope, as I am getting a bit depressed by everything. As it's so random , I am scared of making arrangements to do anything. .
Would appreciate any advice and would love to know how you cope. I live alone ,that makes matters more difficult.

I am really sorry to hear you suffer from migraines - it is so distressing to have to live with a condition that attacks with no warning. I have also had classic migraine from the age of 21 and I am now 75! Plus I do have glaucoma and use drops. But I am convinced that my migraine and glaucoma are not at all related as I was only diagnosed with glaucoma at the age of 62. Although the classic migraine attacks have lessened in intensity over the years, around 20 years ago I was diagnosed with migraine variant balance disorder which, like yours, really messed up my life. I was so dizzy I could not get out of bed until the attack wore off. I had noticed that the classic attacks were worsened by disturbed sleep patterns and neck pain and the consultant I saw for MVBD suggested various foodstuffs could be a culprit too which I have now removed from my diet. With regular neck massages and sleep patterns plus sticking to my diet my dizzy spells have practically disappeared and I rarely get migraine auras either : even when I do get the latter I can cope with them. I hope you can find a way to relieve yours. Might be worth keeping a diary of what you eat and do as a pattern may emerge although I guess this might have been suggested to you already.
Thank you for replying, I also have neck problems. And dizzy spells, all this didn't start until I was in my seventies. It's a nuisance and doctors don't seem to be able to find a solution . Doesn't seem to be food related.. think it's sleep and stress related.
I don't, but recently I've been seeing a new consultant privately for my glaucoma. He asked if I suffer from migraines, so that would suggest that there can be a connection.
I have had migraine with aura every few months for many years, and only once had a headache. I take paracetamol as soon as I realize I'm getting the aura and that works. Frequency of attacks has lessened a lot with age but are definitely linked to stress for me.
Last year I was diagnosed with POAG and at my first appointment with the Consultant she asked if I had migraines and when I said yes she told me there was a connection with glaucoma, although they are unable to say what it is.
I have eyedrops for the glaucoma and had an unsuccessful Laser Treatment ten months ago.
I know I need to learn to cope with stress but it's not easy.
Thank you for replying, don't know which is worse, glaucoma or migraine auras. Feel so miserable. You would think after ten years ,I would have come to terms with it . I think stress makes it worse. But somehow knowing that doesn't help.Just have to plod on ,best we can!!!
