Thanks and a few questions Part II-- Latanoprost doesn't seems to be working

Thanks for your comments, everybody. "No one moves this world leaving no trace'', that is true, with a caveat. I remember my favorite sequence in "It's a wonderful life'' where James Stuart character sees the world without him. It always makes me cry just to think about it. The question is: is it a positive difference you have made in this world, or would you say "I wish I was never born'' because you feel you have failed.

Anyway. MRI results say I have no brain injury issue. It's all in the optic nerve. Worryingly, my IOPs have risen after using Latano-- for two months. they went from 13-14 to 15 and 19. Doctor say this is still normal IOP level. but the fluctuation is baffling. They were 13 before using Latano. Why do they go up. This doesn't make sense. Does anyone have a similar experience with Latano? Now I am given another eye drop called Brinz something.

Speaking of eye drops. How much should we be sensitive about the expiry dates? Mine and everybody's I think supposed to be done by the end of the month. Since my doctor told me to put only one drop a night, I was doing it and it is still some left after 50 or so days. A pharmacist told me to ditch it as it has expired. Do eye drops expire its effectiveness exactly after the written date?

Quick reply as running out door but this is urgent:Expiry date- absolutely must ditch after 28 days. Not sure if this is due to potential for bacteria build up in dropper or if the fluid is just not effective after that date. Throw it after 28 days!!!! Your eyes are not worth the pennies saving.

On Lantanoprost not working now. - Yes this happens. I’ve gone through several drops that have worked for a short while then stopped. There’s 3 types of drop and eventually you may need combinations of 2 or 3 of these types. Then operations.

At this point please follow your consultants advice. Ask questions and query with them but please follow advice. Tell your consultant if you are using old drops as this could be affecting your IOP progress.

Sorry if i sound full on about this but it is important you comply. 👍🏻

I use single dose eye drops (not Lantanoprost) which are not opened until they need to be used. Then the phial is thrown away. Maybe you could ask about those.

Hello charles555. An additional drop should help in bringing down your IOP to a stable level. It is very important to dispose of your drops after the 28 days. even if there are drops left. After this time the preservative doesnt work as well so yes, dispose of the bottle after this time and open a new one.

thanks you for the info about Latano and Brinz. My IOP readings were made in late morning almost exactly the same time, so my IOP fluctuation is not about timing. The right eye is the one jumped up in figures and this is the one that produce mucus more than the other and this may explain the higher reading, and hope Brinz works against mucus, although the doctor told me mucus in your eyes have nothing to do with glaucoma, it may contribute to the higher IOP. Whether Latano is doing any good for me is still an open question.
