How to get the pill during COVID times

A few months ago I started a pill which didn’t work out for me so I made an appointment and got a new pill. The new pill has been good and I want to stick with it so I rang the docs but they wouldn’t make me an appointment they just said I should go to the pharmacy and get my blood pressure taken and then email the doctors with my blood pressure and that I want a new pack of the pills. Has anyone experienced this? I’m not sure if I have been given wrong information. Can I not just get the pharmacy to prescribe me them?
