So I have RA and I’m taking metratrexate so around 3 wks ago I had covid and have to stop the metratrexate and steroid tablets that had just been prescribed!.so I was told I couldn’t take my metratrexate or steroid pills until my covid test is negative as yesterday still showing positive although I’m feeling fine and back to normal!has anyone else been in this situation?
All replies welcome 🙏🏽

Taking MTX means that you are vulnerable to infections. So when I am due for an op I usually have stop for one dose and then restart when the next dose is due.
I too caught covid and was automatically entitled to have the covid drug (cant remember its name). Stopping MTX and pred has a devasting effect on my RA and if anyone starts to mess with my scripts I challenge them.
hi sorry I’ve just seen your reply haven’t really been on as I’ve been so poorly with this flur up I have had no RA mends for over a month and I’m in so much pain and I’ve back to square one!!apparently I can’t start back on metratrexate until I’m testing negative for covid even though I feel fine!I tested positive for covid on 24th of February and still testing positive.I have read up and apparently you can test positive for up to 90 days I can’t carry on that long the pain is is unbearable and affecting most joints I can’t even lift the kettle or wash my hair I’m beside myself and I don’t know what to do!!
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated thanks

In Worcester we have a RA help desk, although an answer phone they try and get back to you within a day Monday to Friday. Hopefully you have one as I am sure a specialist would not agree. Ours is covered by a nurse specialist and she has always been very good. Failing that contact the constant's secretary and ask for an urgent tel appointment.
