Morning, are there certain foods that I should be cutting out whilst waiting to start our next cycle? I have given up caffeine so far. TIA

I was advised not to cut out anything as you tend to get stressed without things. Just everything in moderation

Hi EJW0612, I have listed some of the “good” things to have: Carbohydrates - Wholegrain bread and wholemeal pasta, oatmeal, brown rice. All fresh vegetables especially raw or steamed. Over boiling rids them of vitamins and minerals, pineapple juice, apricots, potatoes, all fruit and honey, beans, chickpeas and lentils. Protein - Organic meat if possible, poultry, fish, Milk and hard cheese, nuts and seeds. Fat - Extra virgin olive oil and sunflower oil, avocado and peanut butter, mackerel, sardines, nuts (especially Brazil and walnuts), seeds, sweet corn and sweet potatoes. The things to avoid are too much sugar, processed foods, ready meals, butter, ice cream etc. A little is OK, but not all the time. Drink plenty of water and only a little tea and coffee if feeling deprived. Cut right down or right out – alcohol and smoking. Oh and don’t forget the Folic Acid and Vitamin D! Hope this helps and all the best with your next cycle. Diane

Hi. Yes eggs are good. Full of everything you need in a little “parcel”. Diane

Hi Diane

How about caffeine free herbal drinks like lemon and ginger?

Also, is 0% alcohol ok?

Thanks

I was told by one doctor not to bother cutting out anything, it doesn’t make any difference to fertility - who knows xx

It’s different for men though ...

The only thing my doctor advised was to not smoke (which I don't anyway) and to take folic acid! Apart from that, I could carry right on as usual.

I'm being strict with no alcohol. I have been told to not drink by several people. I think it has slightly improved things for me. Its extremely hard as I love going out and socialising. We also have 5 weddings this year which is going to be a challenge, hence the 0% beers. Our first round failed and I dont want to be beating myself up if our second one is unsuccessful too (even though there are lots of other factors involved) x

Do what works best for you and what you feel comfortable with. I have cut down on alcohol but had a few glasses over the weekend, I'm comfortable doing that though x
