Do you ever do anything in the evenings? I work every Saturday morning but as a mum of a 6 year in Solihull with suspected FASD I am beginning to feel the strain. I am worried about his education and do not know what school would be best and how to judge a school when they have no experience of children with FASD. Have applied for a EHC plan but the application is still going through the process. Any mums or dads or carers within the Solihull area that can offer guidance or help? I would love to hear from you.

Hi there,

Please email Jo Watkins directly (see email address above). She is the FASD Trust 'Fasd in Education Project Co ordinator', and therefore the best person to be able to offer you support and advice regarding schools etc. Also, Jo will be able to give you details of either a appropriate support group meeting date, or alternatively arrange to meet up with you. Once you have the EHCP in place, ie your daughter's needs have been formally assessed, you will find that things start to get easier, or it may be that you decide that your daughter needs to go to a special school in the area, for which the EHCP will provide funding.

For further advice regarding practical parenting tips I would highly recommend that you purchase a copy of the book called 'Parenting a child with an invisible disability' written by Julia Brown (CEO FASD Trust and Dr Mary Mather) available at this link https//

Also, you can come through to me on
