Weird feeling when stressed?

Hi, I’m about 3 1/2 months in and my recovery is going ok but my face feels really weird sometimes. Whenever I speak too much, or get stressed at all, it feels very tight and somewhat heavy. Has anyone else experienced this? Trying not to freak out that it’s coming back but I don’t know? Would love to hear if others experience anything similar?

Hi! I get this too. Like a weak heavy feeling and get it in my “good side” too some days. I’m 2 months in now, recovery going ok, but I do get this weakness and what I can also only describe as ‘weird feeling’ in my face and get paranoid it’s happening again!

I just try and relax all the muscles in my face because I think the tense up when I get these feelings in my face!

I just try and remember that this will pass, I had Bell’s palsy 7 years ago and these feeling went! :)

Hi, have you sought a referral to a specialist facial therapist? They will be able to help give you some tips on how to reduce the tightness. If you need more help please email support@facialpalsy.org.uk.

Hi!

I, too, have stress reactions. Mine are more localized in my cheek and a dull taste on that side of my face. I think this may heal

Over time...although it’s been a year and a half since recovery for me.

I try to always be thankful, the Bell’s palsy experience taught me a lot...about patience, mediation...more patience (especially with myself). The feeling goes away when I’ve distressed.

Good luck!

I also fear that my Bell’s palsy is coming back when I get stressed. The left side that was affected feels tight and cold on my outer cheek and my gums on the top left and inner cheek turn really cold. The sensation is short lived but does return mostly when I’m a bit stressed out. After reading these other comments I might look further into relaxation techniques. I hope your symptoms ease off soon.
