Im looking for advice about my 3 year old. Since October hed been having very loose mushy offensive stools and also a really sore bottom, not necessarily to look at but refusing nappy changes, running away and crying and screaming with bottom wipes and nappy changes.
Prior to this, hed been chronically constipated. From about 8 or so months old, hed been constipated. Every visit to the dr resulted in more laxitives and in different combinations. At about 13 months, i worked out dairy was an issue and ive cut out dairy and reintroduced and my toddler can tolerate some dairy but not fresh cows from about 15 months old until 32 months old hed been on 10mls lactulose morning and night with movicol sachets if needed as directed by the dr and advised " hell grow out of it, maybe when he goes to school"In october he went from one extreme to the other and went very loose and smelly and he was really complaining of a sore bottom. Itd been about 6 weeks and i saw our family dr. My toddler totally refused the dr to check his bottom so.didnt get to see anything but said he would seek advice from another GP specialising in paediatrics. A couple of weeks ago i got a reply with some advice. They said to use a steroid/antifungal cream on his bottom in case there is a fissure that isnt healing and start up with the lactulose again (as id stopped it with the loose stools) we lasted a week of treatment before my little boys skin around his anus broke down and bleeds and hes pooing 5 or 6 times a day but just little bits and over the past month or so, not always mushy.
Im.at a loss how to help him, how to help his bottom (we use yellow metanium cream) what to do about his loose smelly poos and how we move forward in that my lb wont sit anywhere near a potty or a toilet. Hes so particular about how he has a poo that he wont go near a potty not even to have a wee and he knows he wants a wee or a poo but just screams and cries he wants a nappy on and i feel like im missing an opportunity for him to learn to use a toilet or a potty because of the issues he has having a poo.
