Does anyone else suffer from fingers and toes that turn white and go numb. It's getting worse over the years...could it be my epilepsy meds.

I have raynauds and this happens to my fingers and toes when they get cold. I had tests to rule out rhematological problems and they didn't think it would be a side effect of my epilepsy meds (keppra and lamotrigine) but it can be caused by the combined contraceptive pill if you are on that.

Once rheumatology ruled out it just one of those things so not much they do about it and not dangerous. I also have Pots, and raynauds & POTS do seem to have a link although not officially yet.

Hope that helps. Bring on summer!!

I have numb hands and feet. After struggling to turn pages of books and button up my shirt I went to the GP and neurologist who ruled out diabetes and ms but were not much help after that . I've read up on this and it appears that many aed's cause this by depleting folate and b12. This effectively gives you a deficiency and it is this that causes the nerve damage. I am supplementing with b12, folate and a b complex to try and counteract the effects of my prescription (tegretol). Since I've had this for over 10 years it might take that long for the feeling to come back. At least I'm not doing further damage.
