do you already have a diagnosis for asthma, allergy or COPD? what kind of cough is it - dry or producing phlegm?

a persistent cough does not necessarily mean you have any of the above, although it's possible, but if you already were diagnosed with a respiratory condition it can certainly be related. if it's a dry cough it could be linked to allergic rhinitis.

my symptoms usually start with a tickle in my throat: this starts a cough and then a runny nose. I have to sleep in an upright position as if I lie down the symptoms get worse. I take hayfever tablet daily: is this correct?

I suffer with COPD first diagnosed over a year ago. Had a persistent cough at night producing phlegm quite recently so I altered the time I take accuhaler(Seretide 500) till I go to bed. Fingers crossed it seem to have done the trick. I don't cough so much at least don't keep me awake now. Hope this helps

Hiya,

For three years I suffered just like you. Coughing, choking on my own phlem, sore throat and bring up. I was eventually sent to an ENT and was diagnosed with GORD. I now take omeprazole.

Good luck.

It is clear you are ill by food leading to excess of waste products in your system and so to dryness, I recognize thess manifesttions as I sufferd them too, but after I was treated by my doctor with method Medisynx I am better and no longer suffering.

Just want to let you know, as this is the truth about food and health, be aware!

We are from the ViDA Patient Foundation, we are convinced and waiting for their scientific results will be publiced.

Hi Groovybee

I have been suffering for eight years with a cough producing mucus when I talk, laugh too much, drink or exercise. I am fed up with it. I do have asthma and allergies which I take medication for. None of the medication has helped allieve the tickky throat, cough or hoarse voice. I do hope your cough settles soon and does not last as long as mine. I repeatedly get chest infections from people,s common colds and after eight years fed up with it. My work colleagues are fed up hearing me and my family ignore it as it is just me now and my hubby gets irritable listening to my

Y constant coughing in his ear so much so we don't get close now!!! :((

My doctor is not interested and says it is not food allergies but that is my last option I feel.really I am at a loss and thought of not eating full stop radical I know so if anybody has advice for us I really would love to hear from you!

Good luck and take care.

I have not read all the posts here but I have recently found out that my asthma preventative Serotide is what was giving me a constant cough. No doctor told me that I should be rinsing out my mouth and gargling straight away after using the Serotide and also after taking Ventolin until 3 months ago. I have stopped using Serotide and the cough has gone in 2 days but now I am wheezing all the time. I have had RAST blood tests last week and they show no common allergies ie cats, dogs, grass or dust mites. So now I am booking in to have the Prick skin tests on your arm. I would like to know why I am getting asthma rather than just treating symptoms.

Have also been reading Sue Dengates' site re food allergies and sensitivities. A lot have found their asthma goes away when they stop eating foods with salicylates, sulphates, Amines and Glutamates. they are in a lot of fruit and vegies, asprin, prepared tomato sauces etc. Even tea. I like tea. So I will have to make some decisions soon, it seems. good luck.
