What is parathyroid atotransplantation?
Why it is needed?
Is removing 3.5 of 4 gland not enough?
Share if anyone had that sergery..
Is there any problem with the hand after sergery?

I've had my parathyroid altered. I have a poor memory, I think it's due to to much calcium & the dialysis machine couldn't clean my blood as well.I say altered because they moved that gland to another place. Once again, don't quote me, the Doc put what he called "tabs" on the parathyroid in case I would need more attention to that later.
Its a very easy surgery, only about an hour & a half. Without complications its a same day surgery. I came thru it with no problems. Since then I've had no issues with calcium or that gland.
I'm sure you have a good rapport with your dialysis staff. Speak up ask them about what you don't understand.
With my poor memory, I hope I'm giving you the right information. At least setting your mind at ease about another procedure.
I have had 2 parathyroidectomies long before kidneys started going down hill. The first time, they could only fine 3 and years later PTH high again and they took the final gland out of neck and put pieces of it in my arm. Now on dialysis with highish PTH and they have me taking the drug Sensipar every other day. Never felt bad with PTH high or normal or after either surgery. Take care.
For Dialysis we have AVR fistula in one hand and if in other hand autotransplanted parathyroid is placed then both hands are need to be taken special care. Do you face any problem in this?
In the arm with autotransplantation can i check blood presssure and draw blood for tests and lift weight?
