my latest usg report says that the body and tail of my pancreas shows atrophy. what's that? can anybody explain in simplest language.
yes i am on insulin. the cause of atrophy is once (2008) i had an acute pancreatitis. my doctor recommended pantop-dsr,creon10000,as well as low fat diet.
Pancreatic atrophy is typically seen in elderly patients or those patients who have sequelae of chronic pancreatitis. It is rare to diagnose atrophic pancreas in young patients1 and to date there are less than 10 published cases of initial diagnosis of cystic fibrosis secondary to pancreatic dysfunction.
The most common causes of atrophy of the pancreas are obesity and chronic diabetes. Diabetics can develop gastroparesis, which causes the digestion to slow. This can cause nausea, belching, and constipation.

i appreciate your suggestion...but frankly tell me what worst can happen to me? as my job requires excess travelling (i am in a sales job) so i can not lie down on bed but i can reduce my food intake...please suggest ......i am scared .
Pl.give me your full history of Diabetes and medicines taken earlier and taking now .Probably some of Diabetic medicines(pills) which you have taken earlier might be some reason for your present condition. If you believe in Ayurveda and Homeo medicines pl. contact for further guidance.
anukul-male-39-166cms-56kg,in 2008 had an acute pancreatitis recovered at sgpgi lucknow,in 2012 diagnosed as diabetic consulted with my physician and also at sgpgi both suggested me insulin.so from the day one i am on insulin (insugen 30/70 -14 units in morning 8units at night) please suggest i am waiting...
