The timing of my medication does not allow for bedtime snacks.

Do you have snacks if the numbers start to go lower in the evenings/day hours?

I do not do daily blood test, twice a year blood test only. When I started on my life style change I gave up taking snacks. Now days once in a while when in my daughter's place I do take dark chocolate. At home there is rich tea biscuit, after lunch some time I will have one with my cup of tea.

Leah,

I have found that my FBS is in a good range (100-115 mg/dL) if I don't have any bed time snacks. When I have bed time snacks like a small date fruit, my FBS reaches consistently hits above 120 mg/dL.

Hi barani19 ,

Do you like Greek yogurt? I eat a Greek yogurt and a protein bar for a bedtime snack each night. If my numbers aren’t too high, I eat a 20 gram bar. If it’s lower, I have a 30 gram bar with the Greek yogurt.😀👍🍦

Leah,Thanks for your suggestion. I don't like yogurt or curd. Also, I avoid almost all packaged foods right now.

You’re welcome, barani19 . Thank you for letting me know this about curd/yogurt and packaged foods. Would you eat a half sandwich for protein and small amount of carbs.?

What are your blood sugars usually after dinner? Do you have anything with the milk if lower numbers?

My blood sugar numbers are not satisfactory, probably more due to increasing age(80) and reduced physical activity. But, on the brighter side all my other health parameters are okay. So, I am satisfied with what it is. Thank you for asking.

You're welcome, ramana42 . Do you do any walking around the house or outside on nice weather days for exercise? I've been using a stationary bike for a while now since the new year and it's lowered the numbers/A1c slightly.

Yes, I do walking regularly within the house, but get tired too soon. My HbA1c on 20th dec.21 was 8.I will get it done again in March. Let us see what comes out. I have made some changes in diet during past two months and hoping the result will be better this time.

Hello,

I have bee looking HbA1c and age for a while. Came across a paper where it said device age by 10 to get HbA1C, in my case 75/10 = 7.5 %, for age 80, 80/10 = 8 %.

In UK HbA1C is measured in mmol/mol, my HbA1c is 53 mmol/mol, in December last year, this is 7 %, I look at this as I am well within the limit.

I have been watching video clips on diabetes made by South Asian doctors,. My next blood test is in June this year.

When in June is your next A1c being done, sandybrown ? When was your last appointment with your doctor?😀👍

My blood test will in at the beginning of June 2022. My last appointment was in October last year to get antibiotic for chest infection after COVID- 19. For diabetic check up I see the diabetic nurse in UK this will be after blood test in June..

Please let us know what the new A1c results are when you get them, ramana42 .

It’s good that you do some walking in the house during the day. Do you walk in the morning or early afternoon?😀👍

What do you have for snacks before bed when the numbers are higher?

DRH-sangli profile image
DRH-sangliStar in reply to Activity2004

@ activity 2004, Is there any relationship between late night snack and high dawn sugar phenomenon

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to DRH-sangli

It depends on the bedtime blood sugar and what snack you have— along with the dose of insulin. If the blood sugars are higher before bed, then I eat a lower carb. protein bar. As for the dawn phenomenon, it can depend on the person. 😀👍

Hiya, how is your Dexcom 6 performing? I haven't received any updates since Christmas. I hope you are keeping well.

Hi ThyroidThora ,

Thank you for the reply.

Things are okay, but some of the sensors have been alarming lately when they aren’t supposed to at the time. Today, the one I’m using did that.

I have been really busy and hadn’t had a chance to post a posting about the sensors. Will do that in a few days from now.
