Hi Leah,

Great and fun poll you made for DI forum! πŸ˜πŸ‘

I love all veggies and fruits you mentioned there. For summer, I love fresh salad dish with avocado too and embrace lots of mixed berries. πŸ˜‹

Thank you for saying this about the poll, Koko. I appreciate that very much. I enjoy creating polls and also participating in them with everyone, as well. :-)

It's good to hear that you enjoy fresh salads and berries during the Summer months. For me, they help with carb. control and they are nice and cool for when the temperatures are warm during the day/night. :-)

Thank you Leah, I appreciate many polls as well as brainwork games in many communities you created and participated with us members. πŸ™These are very informative as I like raising my awareness in health. πŸ˜πŸ‘

I like eating low carbs and high plant based protein so salad is perfect for me all year round esp summer time. Love we have so many summer fruits now too. πŸ˜‹πŸ‘

Hi klgksharma ,

Thank you for those two suggestions-- mango and kiwi. They can be listed under the Other/None of the above choice since the way the Polls Section is set up and only allows the Admins. to add 8 choices to pick from when creating polls. I like both mango and kiwi, as well along with a few other fruits/vegetables. :-)

These two are available and cheaper in India.

Mango, a seasonal fruit in summer I like very much. Banana is my all-time favorite. It does not spike my blood sugar. You should only avoid over ripen fruits.

In stead of getting afraid of fruits, people should eat any fruits they like and see if it spikes blood sugar! If it spikes, sure, you should not go for that fruit ! Because different people respond differently to fruits & vegetables.

In all probability, it may not spike much for most people.

In my view You are ok to go with most fruits unless you have some rare kind of fructose intolerances, or allergic to some specific fruits!

But eating a, banana or a mango does not spike blood sugar that much as people think. Yes if you go overboard and take too much fruits, there could be an issue. Eat in moderation. Enjoy... Your vitamin C, fiber, phyto nutrients, anti-oxidants which protects your health in the long run.

With regards to vegetables , there is no such Vegetables in the world which would raise blood sugar ! All vegetables are good for health for all including for diabetes....they contain antioxidants, fiber, phyto nutrients and helps gut bacteria diversity

Here once again, there could be some specific vegetables which some people may be allergic or may have food intolerance, which may be avoided.

There are a lot of research on vegetables & fruits , which protects diabetes and heart patients ....recommended by ADA, AHA, & WHO!

Take care, stay safe, stay healthy πŸ™

Potato is considered to be one of the vegetables spiking blood sugar

Yes, potato is a starchy Tuber not treated as vegetable class. And it depends, how you eat potatoes.. if you take french fries with a lot of fats, it will spike.

I boil potatoes with skin , cool, keep it in refrigerator, and eat next day morning. The boiled and cooled potatoes increases its resistance starch content and does not spike my blood glucose if taken in moderation. And resistance starch acts as food for your billions of microbiota in your Gut- your friendly bacteria.

You can make a mix veg curry...don't pill potatoes ...take with skin.....if potato is mixed with other vegetables for mix curry, ok in moderation.

It all depends upon the glycemic load you are loading in your stomach at a time.

Potato has much needed complex carbs, potassium, vitamin C, fiber/resistance starch....vitamin B6, iron....Ca...

If you eat a regular potato, then it is 26 carbs.. But, if you have a sweet potato, it’s 24 carbs.. My personal favorite type of potato is a sweet potato. πŸ˜€πŸ‘

In addition, we get mangoes in plenty, all varieties during summer months. One can eat one small bowl of mango pieces without affecting our blood sugar.
