One table spoon of Over night soaked fenugreek in half a cup of water.Consume the water and chew the soaked fenugreek to keep A1C to some extent under control

Would it be possible to give % reduction on HbA1c values?

Hi sandybrown ,

If you scroll up on the DI's group page, see the graph that has A1c percent and results for blood sugars ( red, green, yellow, etc. range), it'll show the highs/lows. Hope this helps. :-)

Basic staple food in South India is Rice which is supposed to be high carb.Keeping that in mind I would say roughly helps to reduce about 10 to 15 percent based on the PP values taken with and without fenugreek in the morning.

Thank you.

I have done this with fenugreek before to reduce blood glucose. Also boil Sri Lankan cinnamon stick drink one cup of this in the evening and one cup in the morning.

I am on life style change rather than medication. My life style change is helping me to keep my weight under control.

As I age Hba1c is increasing, go for blood test twice a year, food and eye check one a yeas as part of UK, NHS benefit.

I make sure there is 14 hours between evening meal and breakfast. As a Sri Lankan we eat rice twice a week, the other days, freshly cooked meals for dinner, lunch is open sandwich. Breakfast porridge. Once in a while I make puttu or eddi appam with ragi. I eat a lot of green leaf veg and over ground veg as well. we eat a lot of boiled chick peas, white and brown.

May be soon I have to consider medication. Last year eye test showed a small problem and during foot check the tuning folk vibration test, I could not detect the vibration on my left foot.

Take care.

As you have rightly said change in life style is inevitable for Type II IDDM. Me make it a point to walk Min 45 minutes and to avoid high carb diets except for Rice.

Do A1c and eye Check at least twice a year

Regular rice supplement is veg. Such as long beans, egg plant, cauliflower/ broccoli, French beans etc and once in blue-moon under ground vegetables like potato/ sweet potatoes

My HbA1c is 51 mmol/mol.

This is the UK's guide. "HbA1c of 48 mmol/mol (6.5%) or over: Type 2 diabetes"

I got the information below from diabetes.co.uk this morning.

"For most people with type 2 diabetes or type 1 diabetes, the HbA1c target recommended by NICE, or the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, is 48 mmol/mol or 6.5%.

This target is easy for some to achieve, but for others it’s not. And scoring below 53 mmol/mol or 7% is still impressive. "

Take care.

I take meal only 2 times a day and no breakfast. In between 2 meals I take Water, Black tea, sometimes Green Tea (without sugar). My Meal start with Nuts (Almonds, Cashew nuts, Walnuts) then Salad (Cucumber, Carrot) and Main Course content with One Vegetable Boiled Curry, Bread, Roti, Rice and Pulses (Dal), Coffee with milk but without sugar. Main Course varies sometimes Egg, Chicken or Fish. I complete my meal within 55 min. This is Dixit Diet Plan to control insulin secretion in body. I follow this plan which is very effective to reduce and control blood sugar. Very important I walk for 45 min (4.5 Km) per day.

Do you do the walking more than once a day for the 45 minutes? Did your doctor say it was okay to go on the Dixit Diet Plan? :-)

Wheat, millets and low/medium glycemic fruits. Yoghurt is made at home, daily. It may not be Greek yoghurt. Also pumpkin seeds and steel cut oats.

I like pumpkin seeds for adding to salad and on the side on their own. :-)
