What salad do you eat for blood sugar control? Multiple choice poll.
Please select all that apply:
General mixed salad; tomato, cucumber, lettuce, peppers, onion, carrot, etc....
I eat whatever is available like cucumber, tomatoes, mogari, cabbage, radish, carrot, onion, bhaji, beets, etc.. Around 250 grams at lunch and 50 gm at dinner. Now I eat only 2 chapatis with ghee, one bowlful subji, one bowl daal, 100 gm curd and a handful of rice. I take Madhunashini twice 2 tabs.
Great poll Leah as encouraging others to eat salad is excellent as I love salad. 🌈👍😀
What ever available in the fridge, chick peas, tomatoes with Mozzarella cheese with olive oil.
Tomatoes with salt, pepper and olive oil.
Green leaves salad with olives.
Feta cheese, olives and sun dried tomatoes.
And many more.
I like feta cheese for my Greek salads that I do as either a side salad or a big homemade salad for the main dish of a meal. I haven't had a chance to get more sundried tomatoes lately, but when I do, I usually have them added to a salad, too. They're really good and colorful for any salad.
Which type of olives do you like?
There are expensive ones but this is what we use "Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil 500ml". When I eat rice and curry on a Saturday, I take a small quantity of rice first withy veg, and I use one or two table spoons of olive oil as well.
We use this olive oil to start the cooking for some veg as well.
Like stir-fry? 😀👍🌈
How do you start the stir fry? Which oil or butter?
This is how I do carrots and broccoli.
Heat the frying pan, put garlic and ginger, then add two table spoon of olive oil, onions to fry first, half way through onion frying add carrot to fry first as it takes longer to cook, add red chillies, half way thorough as broccoli. when broccoli is half cooked add salt, water and steam cook all of them until the water is dry.
I have been doing this for many years with different combination of veg. Now days, we can buy pre cut veg mix, bit expensive.
There is microwave cooking instructions as well for pre cut veg.
A good veg to go with any, rice and curry, chicken, fish and roast.
Take care.

Been pe-diabetic since 5 yers now I know, weak intestines and digestion are the root cause of type2 diabetes.
I check once in 2 months.
What are the results when you check?
This time it was 6.7 (145). This would reduce as I have increased salad and protein and restrcted carbs. One Dr. Anupam Ghosh from Siligudi os very convincing in reversing db by nutrition, exercise and lifestyle changes. He has reversed his own type 2 db. He is MBBS and db coach and nutritionist. I follow him on YouTube.
What does your doctor say about the doctor on YouTube? Is your personal doctor okay with the diet plan on YouTube for you?
I don't go to any doctor. They may not approve of YouTube programs. They may put me on meds which would keep the bs at bay but eventually would lead to progression. I have realised its a lifestyle disease. Only proper diet and exercise, lifestyle changes can help effectively. Carbs intake restriction is important. I take Madhunashini as a safeguard which has no side effect or addiction. I am still experimenting. I have succeeded so far in keeping the danger levels away. They say upto 180 pp2 is still considered not full blown db.
Hi,
Could you please explain this more " I have succeeded so far in keeping the danger levels away. "
I am 74, I went on life style change, reduced my weight and am maintaining my weigh but HbA1c number is going up with my age, there is one who can explain this to me!!
I do not do any daily check twice a year, Hba1c check, eye check and foot check.
When I first was diagnosed, my hba1c was 7, though my fbs hovered around 108- 112 and pp2b around 125-135. I decided to bring bit within limit without meds. So I started stufying various srtickes and videos extensively on bd. I consilted MD who is my son's classmate and he prescribed strict diet which I followed religiously. He advised me to continue till the time it stop working. My hba1c came down to 6.5 but recently it came to 6.7 so I got wary and consulted Patanjali Ayu. Dr. He prescribed Madhunadhini 2 months back. My latest hba1c is 6.7. I follow dietitian and nutritionist s advice strictly. I hope to see my hba1c come down further by some points.
I will come back with next results and let you know my lifestyle changes if my readings are improved.
How many carbs. do you eat for each meal and snack? How long have you been on Madhunashini?
As a matter of fact, I dont count carbs per se. By study snd videos I now knowbwhich foods contain more carbs. I restrict those foods and started taking more veg and salad. Non veg. no problem for me. I take it once or twice a week but remain mindful to eat extra salad with it. I want to follow sustainable diet system and not the ones readymade ones with exotic names. As I understand, db is intestinal disease so whatever little you eat you should get it digested by hook or crook. If one can do it, thete is no need of visits to doctors or meds. It's the fire in the stomach the natural way. However, old malady tajes more time and precautions. The one who csn control the diet and committed to exercise and lifestyle change has no need for meds. Maybe initially one needs meds but one shoukd get control of his mellitus in the course of time and avoid meds. We read duch testimonies. It's all about the will power. I may be wrong.
No one wants anyone getting sick or worse. Some medications/new diets from websites -- like YouTube have to be brought up to a doctor to be on the safe side and no one will have extreme lows/highs. Also, a doctor will know why the blood sugars are the way they are at an appointment/over the phone.
Eating more salad is a great way to help with blood sugar and also weight control. I had a side salad with dinner last night.
