What healthy snacks do you eat for bedtime ... - Diabetes India
What healthy snacks do you eat for bedtime to avoid Hypoglycemia during your sleep at night? This is a multiple choice poll.
Yoghurt.
For my bedtime snack, I have a Greek yogurt and a protein bar that either has 20-30 grams of protein in the bar. The Greek yogurt has 15 grams of protein and is lower carbs..
2/3 Dosas or Idlies with Chutney or Sambar or 3 Rotis with one Subji, one small bowl of seasonal fruit (one of these - apple, orange, papaya, guava, mango, grapes)
How big are the rotis you have at snack? Can you cut them in half and save the other half for another snack/meal depending on the size?
😀😀Its not too big, around 6-7 inches dia...since my recent readings were well controlled, no worries for 3-4 months till I go for next test...
Okay. Please keep an eye on the numbers and if they start going up higher than normal after a few days, try cutting the number of rotis down or cut them in half.
I take Madhunashini. My hba1c 6.7. I have not contacted any Dr. I have stopped sugar and sugary items. Follow diet given by dietitian strictly. Limited carb.
I am afraid I do not take any drink or food other than water after 1900 hours.
This is because I want to have 14 hours of nothing goes into my mouth.
AS I am not on any medication this may help me. But one day things may change, only time will tell?
Wow great, someone suggested this to avoid medication, but my hunger tolerance is not more than 10 hours.
Hi,
Giving more than 14 hours between dinner and breakfast is one of many things in my life style change. To start with this was very difficult. During my working life I used to drive from London to Glasgow without stopping as my company car had a large petrol tank to cover the distance without stopping. This gave me more than 14 hours between dinner and lunch. I made up for it with a heavy liquid lunch.!!
Controlling what goes into my mouth, quantity and type of food and drinks, watching out for hidden and free sugar in food and drinks and regular exercise can help towards a healthy life.
Did you ask your doctor about not eating snacks before bedtime, sandybrown ?
I am afraid I have not discussed this with my doctor, my own research in to type 2 and cholesterol.
All the doctor do is to look at blood test results every six months and say no action required in the report, I will be 75 at the end of the years, so far lucky enough to be in good health. what ever happens happens !!!
HbA1c is a very difficult animal for doctors to decide on numbers for each age group.
Only time will tell.
I am trying to keep COVID - 19 out of our house.
