That’s fantastic that you can still do walking in the house. 😀👍 Does the house have multiple floors to go up and down?

It’s difficult to go out in winter, even winters in Bangalore, which are not so severe. I get my exercise walking about the house many times a day. For example, going to fetch things from another room where I walk up each time for one thing so I get to exercise more.

That’s good to know. Thank you for letting us know this. Do you go up/down any steps?

No, I’m afraid I don’t. I live in an apartment, but going up and down stairs puts further strain on my knees so I avoid that. Practising IF also helps me keep my weight in check. I’ve lost 13 kgs over this year, but have more work to be done in that department!

Here in India, the winter is mild with lowest temperature around 14-15 C for a few days in my place. Hence, we continue the same exercise as the rest of the year.

My exercise is walking about 8000 steps every day,( about 6 km) mostly during and to some extent in the evening outside. I also walk a little bit after lunch and dinner inside the house.

The best way is to buy a pedal exerciser and a stool to sit on. Using an egg timer one can pedal away whilst reading or watching television. If someone is extremely overweight and requires support, then a padded office armchair will suffice.

People are diagnosed when they are under stress, overweight or when having pre- operation tests. It usually involves a loss of energy, resulting in feeling very tired due to the excess sugar in the blood.

After a meal one can use the pedal exerciser to cycle, starting with a minute, and then increasing the time incrementally each week.

It can also be used to exercise the arms when placed on a table. This is brilliant for 'getting things off your chest', such as frustration, exasperation or other negative emotions which also have an impact on one's blood sugar levels.

Be consistent and keep a record of your exercise. Increasing your lean muscle mass will decrease the insulin resistance. No matter what, this will improve your health, as long as you are sensible in your approach to exercise and adjust your meals accordingly to increase your protein content and starch to reflect your more active lifestyle.

A pedal exerciser allows you to exercise at home, no matter what you are wearing, and regardless of the time. You suit yourself, and remove the stress of driving to a gym in rush hour and wearing suitable clothes there.

It allows you to reach a minimum level of fitness to cope with walking outside on uneven pavements or those with a steep gradient.

In short, your health improves.
