For diabetes should follow 1.diet 2.physical exercise 3.medicine of these three items.

I cut down on foods that could raise the BS.

I fast for few hours like 12-20 hours regularly as eating frequently raise blood sugars. Not eating for sometime makes the sugar in the blood used for energy for metabolism and other requirements of the body. Skip dinner most days. Fast for a day once a week.

Ashka9 ,

If a person has type 1 diabetes, the person has to eat every day and few hours so they don’t have severe lows because they have to take insulin shots.

True, I am talking about myself...what I do...to control my blood sugars. some do exercise, some do portion control and someone like me prefer to skip dinner and do fast atleast once a week...to control the blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes.

Okay!πŸ˜€πŸ‘ Everyone is different. You do what works for you. Does the doctor know?

I haven't mentioned that to my doctor as I can't digest heavy food in late evening at this age of 49...and so I prefer to skip dinner but take medicine regularly and my HbA1c latest is 6.7. So, it works for me. Fasting also gives rest to our digestive system and initiates autophagy. Fasting has many benefits and one among them is it prevents cancer also. Diabetes is a lifestyle disease so doctor can't do much in it except prescribing medicines...we have to manage our own disease in the way it suits us.

A great poll Leah, πŸ‘ πŸ˜€

Controlling bs levels is like four legs to a chair.comitment, displin, exercise and watch what to eat.if single point is missed it will be a chair with out a leg

I drink more water than I used to but not much more than before. Only slightly more. Walking 6 to 7 km a day is the main contributing factor.

BIG difference between T1 & T2? Have been T1 for more than 52 years & have a fair idea. When I was a kid the only way my Mother could get my BG down was to have me run around our estate.

That sounds great, HOBIEONE . How many laps around did you do? When I was in school, the gym teacher had me go around 3 laps each day and that helped with the numbers slightly.

More walking, exercising or drinking water would not reduce BS substantially, unless one controls carb intake.

I have successfully reduced my HbA1c from 12.6 to 6.1. Fasting Insulin from 21. 6 to 7.4 , Weight from 78 kgs to 64 kgs in just 7 months . All this is with lifestyle modification only and no medicines. I have focussed on diet, walking briskly, Yoga & Pranayam, strength training in gym.
