When I tried to take Sinemet last month I got very high blood pressure spikes about once a day. Has any one else has experienced this?

I have been on a sinemet generic for 2+ yrs, as my main parky pill, and often get light headed or dizzy around the time of my lunchtime dose, and just thought that it was a minor side effect, so did nothing about it. But I think it would be a good idea to get the blood pressure checked while I am feeling dizzy.

Thanks

Adrian

That's what happened to me and my blood pressure went as high as as 215/100. I have my own cuff at home.

It went to 200 + on a number of days and I couldn't get my 3 doctors to tell me what to do. I have an internest, a movement disorder neurologist at the Parkinson Clinic and a psychiatrist at Stanford. All top notch supposedly.

Anyway I finally quit the Sinemet and went back to just Azilect and seem to be okay.

Interesting. I have been on Sinemet for about 8 years and have been dealing with uncontrollable high BP spikes for quite awhile. My neuro has never said the meds may be the culprit. Thanks, will look into this.

That is interesting. I get light headed but i believe mine is due to a drop in blood pressure which is more common. It is usually helped if i drink a glass of water.

I sometimes got low pressure too (in the 90's) but much more rarely. I felt like a balloon ready to pop.

Yes i have just been looking at the side effect list and raised BP is there but i have not heard anyone who has experienced this. I do know somone who did with Azilect!

That is very difficult for you as sinemet is our main drug.

I know. We're going to let me continue with just Azilect for a time and then who knows what. I thought I had Chronic Fatigue for the last 10 years. I was relieved to get a diagnosis of Parkinsons Disease - something I thought would be more known and treatable.

I think I'm starting to have these spikes. Usually have low to normal, but measured high twice at doctor's recently. I don't like this. Don't want to change meds again!
