Opening up the BBB is extremely valuable, for example, right now we already have clinically proven GBase enhancers for Gauchers disease (imiglucerase and velaglucerase), we just can't test them in Parkinson's because they don't reach the brain.
It has its challenges and its potential negative effects, but it's still a very interesting avenue to improve Parkinson's treatment.
Now that's more like it, onsite implantation, or on the path there.
