--------------------------

Beatrice Zatorska, Founder and CEO of the PD Buddy App, recently spoke with Michel Planquart, co-founder of the Parkinson's support group No Silver Bullet 4PD, about his insights from conversations with dozens of Parkinson's researchers over the past few years.

The interview, originally conducted for the Young Onset Parkinson's Network newspaper (yopnetwork.org/) highlights Michel's journey in becoming a generalist who takes a holistic approach to managing his symptoms. He shares his excitement about current research and identifies which studies he believes will have the most significant impact in the future.

Michel also announced his collaboration with the PD Buddy App, where he will lead monthly video meetups. These meetups are designed for both newly diagnosed individuals and those who have been living with Parkinson's for some time, providing a platform to exchange knowledge and offer support. Thank you, Michel and Beatrice for sharing that video. Like many others, I feel I must chart my own course through the challenges of PD. Your videos with so many experts in the subject has given me both information about my disease and hope that we are entering a period of improved therapies for PD.

Good interview Michel. I agree with the holistic approach. Do you know why the newspaper and PDbuddy app need to collect so much personal data (inc address/location data). Is it used for anything in particular.

Thank you CuriousMe! I don’t know about the newspaper but, as far as the PD Buddy app is concerned, entering your location is not compulsory but, if you do so, it allows you to locate other PwPs who live close to you, PD events near you and, in the future, clinical trials near you. For safety reasons, the location is approximate and doesn’t allow others to identify precisely where you live.

what has helped you regain your sense of smell?

I initially thought it might have been mannitol (I am still using it despite the disappointing trial results) but it might be due to exercise as well. Unfortunately, it is hard to associate symptom improvements to individual components of a holistic routine.

Thanks and yes sometimes one cannot be sure what is helping with a specific symptom

I am interested in how your are using the tens unit such as placement and how it is used

This is the position that works for me. I am doing three sessions a day, each for 20 to 30 minutes. I use medium intensity (higher levels quickly become uncomfortable, so you will know how high to go).

Using TENS machine on my hands.
