I’m Jo, age 66, living in Chicago. I believe I have early stage PD. I haven’t been diagnosed yet have been acting out dreams for at least five years, and my right arm doesn’t swing. I’m hoping to get diagnosed soon so I can participate in a clinical trial.

You should join the Zoom calls MBAnderson is so nice to host. Lots of nice people and you will be welcomed. I am in a similar position as you. RBD but no PD diagnosis. I am working at preventing progression. If it is possible to stop this, I think the best chance is stopping it early.

Hi my name is Karen and I'm linked in with the Michael j fox buddy network and would highly recommend it, I have a lovely woman on the site called tia who has had parkinsons for 10 ish years and she swears by supplements, this does not mean she disagrees with modern medicine however she gives her body and brain strength and support with supplements and they have really helped her with regards to parkinsons

What supplements and strengths does she use? I take CoQ10, Vitamin B1, D, K2 (MK-4), Mg, fish oil, and glutathione, I’m considering Mucuna, I’m only on rasagiline, Dx - 2 years ago.

Bydureon (a.k.a., Exenatide), a repurposed Type 2 Diabetes drug, is now in third-stage trials in UK for stopping Parkinson’s in its tracks — results expected 2024. Testing — mice, open label, double blind — has been going on since 2010 and it has been positive every time.

According to a very sensitive test, Homeostasis Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR), 2/3 of Parkinson’s patients are supposed to be insulin resistant. IR may be treated with Bydureon (Exanatide). Just an angle that might get us one step closer to getting Bydureon.

South Korean researchers have learned how to dial our cells back to stem cell stage -- and are now administering monkey stem cells to parts of their brains that are short on dopamine producing cells -- with the hope they will fill in and take over the job.

Started this before with stem cells from other monkeys and had some success I think until local immune systems attacked foreign cells.

So there is even realistic hope for a cure.

Most people are trying to get away as far as possible from PD diagnosis, but you seem to be looking for it...

I will advise that you get involved with a lot of exercises and be more conscious of your nutrition/diet and get tested regularly to see that all vitamins are at the right levels. Since this more likely early onset PD, try and seek natural healing first
