food effect on PD

community ,

i have noticed that my symptoms are somehow tied up with the time i eat , my symptoms are mainly stiffness of the right fist and difficulty to move/control fingers , sometimes when i take meds it has no effect till i eat , i always thought the opposite (keep the meds on empty stomch -which i do ) but i can stay for maybe an hour after that till i start eat something , then i start to feel my hand is back to normal ...i would like to understand what is going on ? does anyone get the same ?

I have similar issue. I get stiffness in right arm/hand and right leg. It comes and goes throughout the day. I’m still trying to figure it out (meds, eating, etc.).

perhaps your gut is slow to empty and a little food helps the process?

Yes I believe that is what is going on here. The pill just sits in the stomach until some food comes along to push it into the small intestine where it can be absorbed.

I was told to drink a 10oz glass of water with my tablet. The water is supposed to push the tablet into the small intestine 🙏 I think it’s helping.

My stiffness (and PD symptoms in general) greatly increases if I don't get 7-8 hrs sleep, but I have it happen off and on throughout the week also. Can't yet decide if food intake, food type has any effect. I will note I am on a high in protein diet and low carbs (mainly no breads). I do think my daily exercise helps a lot also, as it is reduced on those days.

thanks for your reply , i know that my meds affect my sleep badly , the day where i have to stay ON most of the time i take usually extra 1 or 2 sinement , and this does not allow me to sleep easily.

I am very lucky so far and have not had to go on medication, just supplements and exercise
