Rosacea and Parkinson's (video)
Thanks for posting! I'll have to research it. I just replied to a post a few days ago about the reasons for PD and I said possibly drug induced. When I was diagnosed no one told me that it could be related to a drug but I've often wondered. About 6 yrs before I was diagnosed I was taking a Sulfa antibiotics for Rosacea and it ended up affecting my liver. Now with your post, maybe it's related in some way?

1.7 times the risk if you have Rosacea. I think that takes you from 1% to 3% if you are over 60. Something like that. I think it is the same if you have Hashimoto's. Maybe PD is on the autoimmune spectrum of things. I bet if we started Googling autoimmune diseases + Parkinson's we would find a bunch of connections. It is a good reminder to stay focused on addressing autoimmune disease (maybe with the autoimmune diet and other things).
Thanks for sharing.
I watched a video from a functional medicine doc who said that if you've been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition you're likely to have others. I've been diagnosed with Rosacea (don't agree) but think it is more likely a fungal infection related to leukemia/lymphoma.
ivermectin ointment is now used for rosacea - I have not used it - it makes me think that in some cases there is a belief that it is caused by mites Is rosacea caused by parasites?
Research shows that people with rosacea have more than 10 times as many Demodex mites on their skin as people without the condition. “When each of those [mites] dies, they release bacteria into the skin,” he says. Those bacteria trigger an immune reaction that causes redness and inflammation of the skin
In her book the "Whal's Protocol" Dr Terry Whals suggests that Rosacea in PWP starts in the gut as a result of too much sugar in the form of fructose. I can't put my hands on my copy of the book just now but I think she is almost suggesting a Paleo diet as the solution.
I definitely feel better going low carb
