Ayurveda is huge. Here are some supplements that fall under Ayurveda:

Curcumin - I take some every few days.

Berberine - I have a feeling this helps a lot. I take 1200 mg a day.

Licorice Root Extract - I have 600 mg a day in my peanut butter snack.

I will return tomorrow and expand on the benefits of Berberine and Licorice Root Extract.

Thanks; so, are you suggesting that you’re not taking dopamine now or your dose has reduced because of these supplements?

I have not been diagnosed with PD (except by a few people on this forum). I have REM Sleep Behavior Disorder, a sore left shoulder and leg, an impaired sense of smell, and some involuntary muscle movements. So no levadopa for me.

Mucuna pruriens falls under ayurvedic medicine. It calms some of my PD symptoms tremor, pain and muscle tics...as well as being neuro protective. I take the extract by British supplements. High quality. Needs green tea to cross the bbb effectively...havent tried berberine yet but i imagine licorice root helps GI function...turmeric great for inflammation

My concern with mucuna pruriens is no carbidopa to keep from being converted to dopamine before reaching your brain. My belief is dopamine in the body adds to the side effects l-dopa which over the pass 5 decades has been incorporated into PD symptoms. C/L has become the gold standard for treatment for PD. I have read dopamine is toxic and can put your gut to sleep. no reference but will refer back to; healthunlocked.com/cure-par...

Somebody once told me they thought Mucana, taken in the prodromal stage of PD, could prevent progression. Have you ever heard this?

No, Bolt, but my own neurologist is dr Gonzalez Maldonado. He has seen some neuroprotective effects from the components of the plant that of course are not there when they synthethize levodopa

I take Curcumin BCM-95 650mg every morning, it being the only source of Turmerones I have found. There was a promising study on Ar-Turmerone a few years ago.

The bit about curcumin makes sense, as long as you can avoid having the lead-based adulterants that give it the yellow color. As to the rest, it's really just nonsense.

What is nonsense?

Doesn't Mucona Puriens fall under Ayurveda? I take it in capsule form 3-4x/ day with L Tyrosine. No perscription Levodopa at this time. I had side effects.

Why the l tyrosine with mucuna?

I probably read somewhere that it enhances each other. I've been taking LTyrosine for many years from reading a Daniel Amen book on ADD. It helps to wake me up in the AM and keeps me on task.

Gosh! I must try...problem is how to pay all these supplements. Since i got sick i am on social welfare payments. So i need to be very selective...

Yes. I think being selective is smart. I try to stick to the things that have some in vivo human results (however sketchy they may be), but I will take fliers on theoretical things if they are cheap enough :)
