Modifiable Variables in Parkinsonism (MVP)
I have been doing this study for nearly 3 years. In addition to contributing to the data, I find it very helpful information for my own path. It helps me figure out if my "treatment plan" is working or not. It's very much like the Michael J Foxx study, but even better because you get feedback in the form of a numerical score each time you complete the study. I've been tracking my scores on a spreadsheet as I complete this survey every 6 months and my score has actually fallen by more than half. I seem to recall that most PWPs at diagnosis have a score of around 400 and progress at a rate of around 38 points per year.
On top of all that, I am a huge fan of Dr Mischley and her approach to treating this horrid disease. Her desire to find out what the people who are doing well many years into this disease are doing makes total sense to me. By tracking drugs, food, supplements, exercise and other lifestyle factors she hopes to determine how to slow and eventually reverse the progression. I would encourage everyone with PD to participate.
Good luck,
Laura
P.S. One tip. Each time I complete this survey I print it out before I hit the submit button so that I can have a paper record of my progress. I find it helpful to refer back to those scores every now and then.
Also, here is a web page detailing the 2020 results of this study. livinghealthywithparkinsons...
Thanks for taking time and providing the details. What I conclude from your inputs is that this is a very useful survey which not only e provide you the status of your progression with the passage of time but also so give access to other peoples experiences. You are right that every person with Parkinson disease should use this site. This not only will broaden the database but also give us very useful information related to the the daily habits and nutrition
