Neuropalliative care for PW Parkinson's disease
Maybe we will have a cure before long but personally I don't think I will make it to live in a nursing home. I know many old people like myself and don't know a single person with PD living in one. Maybe that is not the case elsewhere but pneumonia seems to catch the Parkies first . I know several people with ALS and Alzheimer and MSA who live in them and require special care , but not Parkies. Maybe coincidence , mabey should be a study?
I was thinking of you the other day and wondering how you are?
Just an uninformed thought. Maybe the parkies are managing at home .Hope so
I am great Cleo, you might be on to something. There seems to be a difference in how people live with and respond to different deceases . I know it is very difficult to be a care giver to any person but Alzheimer seems to be very difficult and the people looking after patients of MSA and ALS etc are quickly exhausted and professional help is required. I think that any dementia in PD is maybe (maybe ) not as aggravating and hostile as it can be in Alzheimer's and most PD problems may be physical. But for whatever reason most of the local PD support group is living at home with their spouse.
(There is another possibility and that is more men get PD and more women get Alzheimer's and women make better caregivers and keep their spouse closer which if true is very sad)
Hope you are well and happy
Jim
