I wouldn't count on that just yet. FUS was approved for Essential Tremor in late 2016 and as of June 2018 the only people who had it (very few) had paid out of pocket. I participated in the initial FUS study for dyskinesia and my information comes directly from the team who did the ET research.
I'm sure the insurance companies will try as long as they can to not pay. Do you know how well it works?
I was patient #5 for the mitigation of dyskinesia part of the study. It wasn't as effective for me as it was for some of the other participants. They're still working on this part. It is (at this time) more effective for tremor which is why it's been approved. The lesion is made on a different part of the brain.
You were way ahead of me in learning about Focused Ultrasound for Parkinson's Disease. Unfortunately, there only two kinds of focused ultrasound treatment available in the United States right now. One treats tremor. The other treats dyskinesia. Neither one treats as many symptoms as Pallidothalamic Tractotomy (PTT) at SoniModul Clinic in Switzerland.
